On January 22, I was on my way back to NorCal for grad school! It was an very rainy day, but HeyTea happened to be doing a BOGO promo for their new King Jasmine and pistachio cloud drink. In theory, it worked out: get a drink right when they open, head over to the airport, and then hop on my plane.
I was incredibly naive. The online order app wasn’t working (overloaded with orders), so I drove over to place an order in person. Although they had just opened, there was a massive line out the door with people. I finally placed my order, and it would take a while until it was ready…I decided to go home, pack my things, and come pick up my drink on the way directly to the airport. When it was ready…they forgot my second drink, and had to remake it! I was slightly stressed out by this point, but in the end…all was well. I got my drink, chugged it before security, and made it onto my flight.
I opted for the pistachio cloud option, since I do like pistachio. Seemed unique, and I might as well with the promotion. I gave their boba another try, seeing as this was a milk tea. The drink comes with pistachio cloud, 9-scented king jasmine tea, real dairy milk, custom light milk, and real cane sugar.
The pistachio cream was slightly salty, nicely flavored, and added a fluffy nuttiness to the drink. Tea was good, though for a “King Jasmine” drink, it didn’t taste as fragrant as my sister’s normal jasmine milk tea from them? It was a very good jasmine though. Fortunately, the boba didn’t taste as burnt as previous times.
Interestingly enough, the campaign was all about “launching today”, but it quickly disappeared from the menu. Now they have a pistachio cloud over jasmine coconut.
(Yes, I am extremely behind on posts, but this is the last boba of winter break. Onto spring break boba in Taiwan in the next one!)
