On May 23, my dad and I went grocery shopping, and in the afternoon, I went to Omomo with my sister for a drink!
At this point I’ve tried most of the milk tea drinks on the menu, so I’m slowly going through foam topping and tea combinations. This day, I opted for the Gyokuro, because I wanted to try it on its own. I was under the impression this was the tea in the Uji Green Milk Tea (which I’m not a huge fan of), but afterward, I found out this is the tea base in the Matcha Cortado (which I am a fan of). For whatever reason, besides the Matcha Cortado, this isn’t used in a milk tea, so the closest I can get is adding the cheese foam on top.
The drink had a refreshing tea taste, but slightly astringent. The foam added a nice creamy flavor. Boba was perfectly chewy. I think my judgement was clouded because I went in thinking the bitter taste from the Uji was from the Gyokuro (which is not in the Uji Green Milk Tea…).
