White Champaca Milk Tea – Molly Tea

On April 15th, my dad came to visit since he had business in San Jose! A large part of his visit was to drop off my old computer because my current one was having troubles…Since he came from San Jose, I asked for boba, and he delivered me not one, but two! I’ve heard good things about Molly Tea, so that was my request this time.

My dad suggested I get 2, since it’s not everyday I get boba from San Jose. I opted for the White Champaca, an unusual menu option, and I heard Molly Tea’s signature is their jasmine, so I got that too. Since I was going to save one for the next day, I only got boba in the Champaca one. I would later find out the Champaca is related (or is?) to the Magnolia flower.

Taking into consideration that the drink has been through 2+ hours of transportation, the drink was still really good! It was milky, and tea-wise, tasted like a very light, high mountain tea. Boba was chewy and large, with a somehow delayed burnt brown sugar aftertaste. Their boba reminds me of Hey Tea’s, but a little less burnt brown sugar-y. I’d definitely go again.

Moving on to the signature Jasmine Milk Tea that I had the next day!

It was super fragrant and floral, with the milky and jasmine flavors perfectly balanced. Tea-wise, it was more tea-flower forward, and this one came with the three-mini-straws-in-one tasting straw. That was definitely an interesting experience. A big thing I liked about this jasmine was that there was no bitter aftertaste, a common problem in some jasmine milk teas.

The cups were even customized per drink!
