Golden Buddha Silk Boba

Golden Buddha Silk Boba (粉粿鐵觀音鮮奶茶) – Odd One Out

A double post, since I did have double boba! Granted, the first boba half of the day wasn’t at a proper boba shop, but then again (spoiler!), the second boba half isn’t a real boba shop either anyway. Besides, we’re in Taiwan, a double boba can’t hurt anyone, in moderation of course.

My boba shop of choice of the day was going to Odd One Out. Last time I was in Taiwan I turned back after hearing they don’t have actual boba, but I am learning to be more flexible and try out new things…Plus, I couldn’t turn down trying an award winning milk tea any longer, ha! I opted for the 2023 Taiwan Milk Tea Festival winner, which is their Iron Buddha Milk Tea with Jasmine Silk Boba.

The drink was good, and the flavor profile was a milky, slightly roasty tea drink. As for their signature silk boba, it was a very interesting texture, considering I usually get tapioca pearls. It was like a jelly that had a chew to it, less gummy-like, but a jelly that didn’t dissolve right away. A jasmine tea flavored jelly.

I’d get it again, but probably a different tea. I’m fine with roasty teas, but prefer others given a choice.
