Jasmine Sambac Milk Tea – Neighborhood Cafe

On January 5th, I landed in Seattle! My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary, and we wanted to take a trip somewhere to see each other again after quite a few months separated. I also don’t recall the last time I was in Seattle, but I do know it was when I was really little.

I landed at the airport around 2pm, and the original plan was that my boyfriend would land within an hour. Well, his flight was significantly delayed, so I had to kill quite a few hours of time until he arrived. I was in the B terminal, so I explored A, B, C, and then…in terminal D, to my surprise, I discovered a boba shop! Well, it was a cafe, but it was an Asian cafe, with some pretty good looking boba options (I passed a Japanese stall that claimed to sell boba earlier, and though I was tempted, I made note to not return unless there were no other options…). I really did not think about getting anything at the airport, but I am for sure trying Seattle airport boba. Plus, it was a good midday snack after walking the airport and waiting for my boyfriend.

This particular cafe seemed generally Asian, with Kpop music playing, Asian snacks, but the items skewed more towards Filipino. I opted for a jasmine milk tea thinking of my sister, and interestingly enough this was called a Jasmine Sambac Milk Tea. Apparently, sambac is a type of jasmine. That was interesting. There wasn’t much adjustments to be made.

The drink was not bad! It was mostly a jasmine flavor, not too milky, but actually had a slightly, smoky, flowery depth of jasmine flavor to it. It was more like a sweet, slightly different jasmine tea. Boba was soft and chewy, and not too bad from an airport.

Details: Jasmine Sambac Milk Tea; 20 oz; skim milk; brown sugar boba; from Neighborhood Cafe (Concourse D)
