Matcha Latte – Bako Tea House

Merry (Belated, oops!) Christmas Eve! On December 24th, my family all took a trek out to Bako to get some drinks. Southern California was quite rainy around Christmas, so instead of a white Christmas, we got a…wet Christmas?

This time I opted for their matcha latte. The description on their website describes it as “A hand whisked triple shot of ceremonial grade matcha poured over [milk]”. We love a ceremonial grade matcha shoutout (both ironically and unironically I suppose). Actually, the actual title of the drink now is Ceremonial Grade Matcha Latte, but I’m not actually sure if this was the name when I had it in December…I also recall seeing a Facebook ad at some point about a limited availability of a first flush matcha? Somewhat expected, but no ice for the matcha costs a whole $1.

Drink was very good! A solid matcha latte. Not too sweet, but still rich, flavorful, and balanced all around with the matcha and milk. Honestly, I think it does live up to its name of ceremonial grade. I wonder if I just had no sugar at all if it would be just as good. Boba has some sweetness too.
