Happy New Year’s Eve! Quite a while ago, this new place took over Ding Tea Irvine’s location. I think I was around when the soft opening was happening, but I kind of dismissed it because the menu at first glance seemed kind of basic, and sometimes places with this aesthetic are a bit of a let down. I have been wanting to try Jam Jam though, so today was the day.
Upon further inspection at the menu, there were some basic items, but also some shop specialties and unique drinks. I went with the Gardenia, because I’ve never seen this on any menu before. The barley boba sounded very interesting, but I stuck to the usual brown sugar boba to be safe.
The drink was really good! The flavor of the tea was very aromatic and floral, like a relative of the Osmanthus oolong (they also have this, and apparently comes with a real flower). The flavor was light tea-wise, but very pronounced. Boba was warm when the drink was made, and was very sweet and soaked in brown sugar flavor. Perhaps next time I will consider 25% sugar.
I’m sorry I underestimated you Jam Jam.
