Creamy Jasmine – Teaspoon

I had to go all the way to Los Angeles today to see a specialist for a condition I have. I’m fine, just needed to go for a check up since I haven’t gone in for a while to see this specialist. Now, over the past few days, I was researching some good boba places near UCLA in particular, and my choices came down to Teaspoon, Junbi Matcha, and Percolate. Junbi is a little closer, so I figured if we needed to stay in the area, we could go there. Plus, I’ve heard a lot of good things about Junbi too, and have had it on my list for a while. Next were Percolate and Teaspoon, which were a little further away if my dad didn’t mind driving. I found Percolate, and the overall reviews of the place seemed good, and it was going to be the place if my dad wanted a drink, since they have a black sesame drink. I guess the Teaspoon here opened about a month ago, and when I found they had a location here, I really wanted to go again since I tried them went I was in San Jose. In the end, I said I preferred to go to Teaspoon, and my dad did end up having a drink, ha! I was going to get a drink here anyway while I’m here, but today I got an impromptu blood test done, so my drink is justified as my reward. Plus today is just super hot anyway.

I’ve been really feeling a Jasmine recently, so I knew this was what I wanted to get today. Plus, the description sounded really enticing too. The description, along with a bunch of other drinks, say special cream, but I think it’s just milk. The cashier said regular milk, so maybe the menu is just trying to sound fancy…

The drink is a solid Jasmine milk tea. Upon first sip, I got a really aromatic and flavorful jasmine tea flavor, sweet as in the aroma, but not sweet as in sugary sweet. At half sugar, it’s slightly on the heavier tea side, but not bitter, and the drink overall is pretty balanced. Even though cream is in the description, it’s not a heavy drink, and not watery either. Boba is really good, nicely chewy, and actually flavorful with some sweetness.
