One of my friends is in town for a week, and she wanted to meet up. Luckily I got off work somewhat early today, so we decided to go to Class 302. Man, I haven’t been to 302 in a while, and Class 302 is so nostalgic because we’d always go after our volunteering together back in high school. I guess another reason is that during the pandemic, my mom was kind of cautious of 302 because they were a self-serve type boba place, and some of the ingredients are kind of public or out there, so supposedly that equated to a more dangerous place to spread germs. In any case, last year we opted to go to Cherubic/Spiritea instead, though in retrospect, ingredients prepared in the back vs out front doesn’t seem like it shouldn’t make a difference, but here we are. My mom even said it’s been 2 years since she’s had 302. Dang, the pandemic has been long…
Speaking of the pandemic, though they’re supposed to be a self-serve/DIY boba concept, I think partially due to the pandemic and the whole boba shortage a while ago they’re limiting and doing the toppings for you, especially boba. For regular or “honey” boba, it’s limited to 2 scoops, which isn’t that much considering the size of the cups here. Another problem is that a scoop can be inconsistent. My friend bought 2 large cups and got 2 scoops boba each, but at first, one cup had a little less than the other. When my friend asked for a little more, I think the cashier felt bad it was uneven and gave in to add a little extra. Normally when I come to 302, I get boba a little less than a quarter of the regular cup, so my two scoops today looked a little sad to be honest…But it’s fine, less boba consumed right?
Anyway, since we’re back, I’m getting my go-to here at Class 302, the Thai Tea. So I do know what it (is supposed) to taste like, but I’m going to write a “review” anyway. Maybe since I started this blog I’ll actually branch out and try their other drinks. We’ll see, their Thai is nice though…
Ok, so I say Thai Tea, and they say Thai Tea, but really, it’s not really entirely Thai Tea. First, it’s a slush, so you might think, it’s a Thai Tea flavored slush. Sure. When you actually sip it though, it doesn’t really taste like Thai Tea. Either that, or a super sweet almost to the point of losing the Thai Tea flavor Thai Tea. Can you taste it if you try hard enough? Maybe. It kinda tastes like a caramel-y ish drink. I guess that’s what happens when the drinks are pre-set and nonadjustable. What’s great about today though was that it came out super slushy and thick, what you’d want in a slush drink. Sometimes I come on days and the Thai Tea is super liquidy. Boba’s ok, kinda mushy, but really has that reminiscent Class 302 flavor.
