Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea – Cloudy Co.

Today’s a holiday, but that can’t stop us from doing some Russian and getting some boba! We’re at Cloudy Co, a new place in town, and got halfway through an article about a boy named Peter. Maybe there’s something about cold weather that makes people less productive, maybe it’s the holiday, maybe it was the difficulty of the article. Whatever it was, today was a little less motivating, but the boba makes it worth it 🙂

So sometimes I’ll randomly go on Yelp, and a few days ago, on the New page, I saw that a new place opened up nearby just recently, Cloudy Co.! I gotta applaud places that are opening up despite the shelter in place policies, so I decided to check it out, keeping in mind they are a new establishment. Also, support local businesses right?

The interior is super chic and clean, and it almost looks like a tea bar! Someday when I write a post on the shop itself, I might write a little more detailed, but it really left a nice first impression. It seemed like their specialty is their cloud foam on teas, both milk teas and plain, along with the now standard cheese and tiramisu foam. I’m not sure what makes the cloud foam special, because looking at it, it looks like regular whipped cream. My friend ordered it, and it looks like they top it with crushed nuts or something and any cloud puff drinks come in a smaller paper-looking cup (my regular milk tea and smoothies for my family all came in a plastic cup).

In any case, I was thinking about getting the cloud foam to taste their specialty, but I figured I should get a plain version of something for some scientific control, right? I chose the Osmanthus Oolong Milk Tea, because I feel like not many places offer Osmanthus Oolong and it’s a really nice flavor from the few times I’ve had it. Plus, some of the Yelp reviews recommend it. Even my mom wanted it, and she usually goes for a black tea. They have some nice looking options though, which motivates me to go back!

After drinking it, I can see why they would recommend it! It’s reminiscent of other Osmanthus Oolongs I’ve had, with the slightly floral taste combined with a light Oolong flavor. It also pairs really well with the milk, not too creamy, but still balanced as a milk tea from both the tea and the milk. The boba is ok, a little chewy, and no flavor on it’s own. They do give a good amount though, which is a plus. As a first impression, their tea is great, the boba could use a little improvement, but I’m overall pretty happy with the quality from a newly opened place!
