Dolche Black Milk Tea (돌체 블랙 밀크티) – Palgong Tea

I’m in Korea! Read more about the trip on my Japan blog (yes it’s a Korea trip on a Japan blog). Since I’m out, I wanted to get boba, and also get a chance to try boba in Korea while I’m at it. My spot today is Palgong Tea, which I discovered through some Korean cafe vloggers, and since boba is a common topping at this place, I figured I should go try. I was actually going to go to a different location on Google maps yesterday, but it didn’t show up on Naver, which is a little more reliable than google in Korea, so I didn’t want to risk going and not actually it being there. I found another location around where we were going today, so it all worked out. Incidentally, earlier in the day we passed another boba shop that seemed more like what I’m used to, but I already had Palgong planned. There’s so much Gong Cha here though, and though some menu items are Korea exclusive, most of it seems the same.

Anyway, I knew I wanted a milk tea, but I wasn’t sure what to get. I was thinking about trying their green milk tea, but then I saw the menu recommended their dolce, and I figured that sounded pretty unique. The boba comes included in the price of the drink, and I also got less ice. No sugar adjustment available on the iPad we used to order. My boyfriend got a strawberry milk tea, a seasonal.

The drink is pretty good for a first time boba in Korea! It’s definitely a black tea base, though the tea flavor is not too strong. It’s more of a milky base with some tea flavor, though there is a very slight caramel-y-ness to it, which might be the dolce part? Boba is ok, pretty nice texture, though no flavor on its own. Overall not bad, and for the price, I’d come back.

Oh, and we got eat in, so our drinks came in glasses!
