On January 3rd, my sister and I needed to go to Target, so we stopped by BenGong’s in the same plaza! A Target run and a boba run at the same time, nice and efficient. I don’t think she’s ever had BenGong, and this was only my second time there.
The menu has definitely changed I think since the last time I was there. I don’t remember the specifics, but I don’t think the drink I got last time was on the menu this second time, and there seemed to be some new items too. I opted for this Longjing milk tea. I’m not entirely sure what Longjing tea is, but I’m assuming some type of oolong. The description on the online order says this is a premium west lake longjing green tea and fresh milk, and describes the taste as floral, smooth and lightly sweet with a lingering finish.
I asked for no ice, and the drink came out warm. I guess that’s what I get.
The drink itself had a nice oolong flavor, and tasted like a high mountain tea some places have, although with a slight astringent aftertaste. Boba was chewy with a brown sugar flavor, though the boba itself had a weird aftertaste. I don’t think this was the case last time, though it has been a while.
We got a free upsize for our drinks because of a New Year promotion (we didn’t know about this before picking the shop)!
