Brown Sugar Houjicha Tapioca Latte (ほうじ黒糖タピオカラテ) – Tea Tatamo!

On August 10th, I was chilling around Tokyo on my last full day in Japan…I met up with my boyfriend later in the afternoon and hung out the rest of the day with him. Since he was coming over from his sharehouse in Setagaya, I asked if he could get me a boba from a shop from over there, and be brought me boba! This would be my last Japan boba for a while…

Tea Tatamo is actually a matcha specialty shop, but they have a dedicated section on their menu to offering their drinks with added boba. A YouTuber I like actually recommended their boba, so despite not being a boba shop, I have decently high hopes for the quality from this place. It was quite a bit later in the afternoon when we would meet up though, so I asked for a hojicha instead of a matcha. I do want to eventually try their matcha though.

By the time I got the drink, it had been a while since it was made, so we are keeping an open mind here. The drink had settled into concentrate and milk, so after mixing it, it was, a very nice, rich hojicha latte. It would have been nice colder, but I can’t complain. Boba was ok, not bad at all, but not the ideal chewy I’d like, but then again, it could have been the passage of time too.
