I’m back in Hokkaido! I flew in from Hiroshima this morning after saying bye to my parents, and got a quick lunch in Sapporo. After getting boba, I headed home! Still have work tomorrow, so I’m trying not to stay too late.
I got Gong Cha today to try out the chocolate version of the current honey seasonal. I have a feeling the next seasonal is coming out any day now, so best to get it while I can. This one has most of the same components as the other one: with a Hokkaido honey sauce, honey honey jelly, and caramelized honey bits. the chocolate version uses a bergamot aroma earl grey tea for the base instead of jasmine. I’m assuming they also add chocolate powder.
The drink is good. At first, sipping the chocolate portion felt like kind of cocoa powder milk, but that’s on me for ordering no sugar, though I feel like I mixed it quite a bit. The honey jelly is still pretty smoky, but feels more reasonable as a flavor today. Maybe it’s the combination with the chocolate? Boba today is ok, some are a little hard, and could use more cooking time.
