Today’s our first full day in Hiroshima! We went to visit the A-Dome in the morning, and checked out the Yamato museum in the afternoon. After another okonomiyaki dinner, we stopped by the nearby mall for some dessert shopping and boba! I had researched boba in Hiroshima ahead of time, and this was a local spot that popped up.
Bring a milk tea girlie, I defaulted to that section. For basic milk teas, they had a house special, a jasmine, and a tieguanyin. The last two both sounded good as hard to find in Japan, but my instinct told me tieguanyin, ha! Their large size here is called a “mega”, and when you order a mega, you can choose two free toppings. Of course I went with my usual boba, but it also looked like their “limited supply” topping was shiratama, or a rice-flower base boba-like chewy ball. I went with that one for my second topping.
True to their name, they do use good quality tea! At least for the tieguanyin, it has a nice oolong tea-flavor to it, and doesn’t taste generic at all. Boba is chewy, and you can actually taste and feel the difference between the two. The classic boba tastes and feels like boba, and the shiratama is a bit more sticky, and tastes like mochi. Very happy with the place!
