Today my family is heading to Hiroshima! Since our flight is in the afternoon, I managed to stop by Gong Cha before we checked out of our hotel in the morning and grab one of their current seasonals. Starting 1/16, Gong Cha came out with a honey series, and I was hoping to grab at least one before they switch to the next one.
I say at least one, because Gong Cha is doing a double seasonal again. This time it’s the honey honey milk tea, and a chocolate version. The normal one contains Hokkaido produced honey sauce, jasmine green tea as a base, and honey bits on top. As with recently, I got no sugar (which is no added syrup, but the honey sauce is definitely still there). Ice wasn’t adjustable this time. And of course I added boba!
Although I did try mixing it as much as I could, my first few sips were mostly smoky honey notes. It was sweet, yet simultaneously very toasty in a roasted sugar way. In combination with the rest of the milky drink though, it mellows out a bit, and adds a nice flavor. There were some crunchy honey sugar bits on top! Boba is not bad, some chew, and boba flavor.
