Yesterday my parents went to pick up a delivery meal for dinner. They were in the 7 Leaves area, so we got drinks to go with our dinner!
I love 7 Leaves’ stuff and tried a lot of the menu already. I decided to go for something new on their secret menu, and went with the Tea Rex. It’s their mung bean milk tea as a base, and with added premium matcha.
The drink is not bad. It mostly tastes like the mung bean milk tea, with that typical bean-y texture. Occasionally, there’s a hint of matcha, but knowing 7 Leaves’ other drinks, I didn’t have super high expectations of the matcha. Not a bad drink, but definitely not one I would go-to. The boba was pretty good, nicely chewy.

Hi Annie! Really enjoyed your honest review of the Tea Rex drink. The combination of mung bean and matcha sounds fascinating, even if the matcha flavor was a bit subtle. It got me curious about the name “Tea Rex” itself. I was doing some research and stumbled upon information about a completely different product, a medication, that shares the same name. Have you or any of your readers ever heard of the pharmaceutical drug called Tearex? I found some details about its uses on this global medicine info site: https://pillintrip.com/medicine/tearex. It’s funny how the same name can be used for such different things – a fun boba drink and a medical treatment! Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hi Micah! Thanks for reading and the interesting comment. I’m sure these two are just coincidences, and if you’re really curious, perhaps you can reach out to 7 Leaves about their naming. Personally my theory is that because the drink is double green, and T-rexes arstereotypically green, adding “Tea” in is a punny name.
