This morning(? Yesterday in Japan?) I left to go home to America for the winter holidays! As of the 26th, Gong Cha came out with a new drink just in time as I’m leaving the country! A perfect opportunity for a last boba in Japan for now
The drink is a matcha base, made with matcha from Shizuoka, brown sugar, warabi mochi topping, and mochi hana arare flakes on top to give color and texture.
The drink was very yummy! The matcha was very good, and was accompanied by a smokiness from the brown sugar syrup. The crunchy rice cracker bits from on top stayed crunchy in the drink and added a nice occasional flavor and texture change. The warabi mochi was super soft, unlike what I thought it’d be like. It barely held its form like a jelly, and disintegrated once in my mouth. I’m glad I got my boba as usual for the chewiness.
Details: Warabi Mochi Brown Sugar Matcha Milk Tea; less sugar; less ice; pearl; from Gong Cha (Sapporo Akarenga Terrace)
