The other day I was in my local grocery store, minding my own business. I passed through the small drinks section, and caught a glimpse of a boba drink. This gave me a realy strong sense of deja vu, as I’m pretty sure I had this one before, yet now there was a boba milk tea and a brown sugar milk boba standing side to side on the shelf. After checking my blog, it turns out I only tried the milk tea one.
Over two year ago when I first moved here, I found the boba milk tea from this brand. This seems like the non-tea version of the drink, or the brown sugar boba milk one. The drink is likely going to be a sweet milk, with fake boba inside. It uses a syrup made with brown sugar from Okinawa.
The drink it’s very sweet. Even for a sweet milk, it’s pretty sweet. It’s a nice snack drink though, so as a casual small thing from the supermarket, I don’t mind it entirely. Obviously, the boba isn’t real boba. I recall I didn’t entirely mind it last time. Today’s has a squishy texture, but not chewy at all. It’s chews like a crunchy jelly, like I’d imagine agar boba to feel like (I’ve never had it). Apparently it’s made from collagen and starch.
