Happy Sports Day! Today I’m getting some brunch in Sapporo, before heading to Otaru to see a movie (it was very good). I’m getting boba before I leave Sapporo though, and I’m going for Gong Cha because there’s a new seasonal for spooky season.
This seasonal looks pretty interesting. The series is called Apple & blood orange (to evoke bloody vibes). It has red apple sauce, blood orange jelly, and black tea. Of course, I’m adding boba. Indeed, with the red sauce all over the side, it does give spooky vibes.
I did shake the drink quite a bit before I had my first sip to mix everything together. Surprisingly, the first sip was a little tea forward! Usually with these the tea is barely noticeable. As I progressed though, the fruity parts gradually grew stronger. The apple at first was subtle and just gave fruity vibes, but once I started getting the tiny apple chunks, it was much more obvious. The jelly was clearly a bit citrus-y, but not too sour. Even at zero sugar, the drink was quite balanced and not too sweet. The boba texture was a bit consistent. Some were pretty good, but others were on the harder chew side.
Details: Apple & Blood Orange Milk Tea; no sugar; less ice; pearl; from Gong Cha (Sapporo Akarenga Terrace)
