Today’s a casual Saturday Sapporo trip, running around doing some shopping and eating seasonal foods. I was planing on ending my day with boba from The Tea, but it seems as of August 22, they closed this location and are moving to Cocono, opening on September 12. This was a bit of a plot twist, so my next best thing was to get Gong Cha.
I did not plan on going to Gong Cha today, so the drink choice was a spur of the moment decision. Looking at the normal menu, I decided to go for the Earl grey, since it’s in the milk tea section. Not a choice I would normally go for, but I’ve had the actual tea on some occasions, and some of the Gong Cha seasonals have had it (though impossible to taste).
The drink was surprisingly really pleasant! It’s probably the most tea-tasting of the teas. It has that herbal-y black tea flavor at first, and then fades into a typical earl grey tea taste, not that I drink it much to know for sure, but from what I remember it’s accurate at least. Just slightly milky, it makes for a good milk tea. Boba is fine, pretty chewy, but on the slightly hard chewy side.
Details: Earl Grey Milk Tea; large; less sugar; less ice; pearl; from Gong Cha (Sapporo Akarenga Terrace)
