I never thought I’d write another protein adjacent review here, but here we are, back with another post on boba flavored protein. This time, it’s a protein bar by the same company as the protein powder I tried a bit ago. I actually saw this on their website, along with a matcha flavor, that looked quite interesting and promising, but at the time, seemed a bit expensive to just buy. Fortunately, I had some credit, and since it had an expiration date, I needed to use it up, and so I bought the protein bars.
The bar itself is advertised as “layered”, with protein crispies, but other than being “brown sugar bubble tea” flavored, there’s not much else description. Upon first bite, I did appreciate the crunchies on the outside for texture, but although being black in color, did not have any flavor to them or could not be called a replacement for boba. The bar itself was soft, very chewy, but didn’t have any obvious layers to it. The main flavor profile though is less brown sugar, or milk tea, and more sweet and caramel-y. I will say flavor profile-wise it is similar to the powder, but I think this tastes better, probably a form thing.
