This is also a yesterday’s yesterday drink, and also, that night’s drink. We ate a lot yesterday after browsing around Tainan (thanks to my cousin for being a really great local guide!), and after what I thought was dinner, we went out for part 2 at a xiao long bao place, dubbed the Ding Tai Fung of Tainan. I did not expect to get another drink that day, but my other cousin said that while I’m in Taiwan I should drink all the boba even though I already had one that day, and that there’s a good drink place across the street and we should go before they close (it was around 9:30pm). Unfortunately, they ran out of boba, and I’m a stubborn boba girlie. He said then we should try the place next door, and Cha Nung had boba!
I didn’t want to take too long to decide, and since the milk tea is supposed to be good, I just went with the easiest option that was a red milk tea and boba was included. Getting any ice might have been a mistake, or maybe it was the latte.
The drink at first was really good! It had a really nice light red tea flavor, and wasn’t heavy in any department. At some point, the flavor got a bit light, which might be because of melted ice, or because fresh milk tends to do that to milk tea.
I didn’t finish because we ate a ton that night, and I fridged it, prepared to sacrifice my boba. To my surprise, I took it out of the fridge the next day, and the boba wasn’t super chewy, but it was soft enough to chew. Crazy. Taiwan hits different.
