Tapioca Iced Milk Tea (タピオカ入りアイスミルクティ) – Bund Cafe

Today I spent the day in Sapporo, doing some eating, casual shopping, and seeing what was up locally (it’s summer, which means it’s festival season!). I ended the day this time with a bit of a surprise boba twist, as I still had items to get at my usual places, but wanted to recheck and see if there were any other local hidden boba around before I completely exhaust my to-try list. Surprisingly, I found this tea cafe special along in Taiwan and Chinese tea which had boba! Luckily, they were able to do take-out, and so I could bring it home.

There were a few options for boba on the menu, including coffee and mango juice, but the only boba option really for me was the milk tea. The menu said no sugar was available, but the lady at the cafe said sugar would make it taste better, so I asked for her recommendation. I didn’t see the entire process, but I did witness her shaking it, and it came out foamy on top!

The drink itself is not too sweet which is good, and the tea flavor is mild and subtle. It’s not too creamy or watery, but also doesn’t taste like a normal Japanese “milk tea”. Boba is pretty soft, and no flavor for itself.

Overall, I’m glad I tried out the cafe, but the boba is alright. It’s super cute, and a tiny space, and I was impressed with the Chinese tea selection. Someday I shall go back to drink some tea and eat some of their sweets.
