Roasted Iron Kannon Tapioka Milk Tea (焙煎鉄観音タピオカミルクティー) – Tsutsumiya

I’m heading home from my brief short vacation to Furano today! I left early in the morning to make a stop in Sapporo for lunch, pick up boba, and then go home. Today, I’m actually getting boba from Tsutsumiya, a small crepe shop in the Daimaru department store Kiyokocho. I actually stumbled upon the fact that they sell boba a while back, and ever since have been wanting to try.

Today I’m trying their Tieguanyin from their boba milk tea options, because that’s more familiar to me, and the bar is low for it in Sapporo. There’s a few milk tea options, as well as a brown sugar milk, and you can also add boba on to any of their more normal, fruity tea drinks.

The drink came out cold (good), but also some space at the top for the no ice (bad), but at least no ice is free! It smelled really promising, which actually made me super excited. Upon first sip, I was shocked by how good, and accurate of a Tieguanyin it was. The tea flavor was strong, it was a Tieguanyin on the roasty side true to its name, and not too sweet, and the boba was also super good, chewy and sweet. Man, if only the cup wasn’t this small (Japanese sizing I guess), everything about this place is perfect, besides the fact that they are a crepe shop.
