Citrus & Passion Tea-ade ( シトラス&パッションティーエイド) – Gong Cha

Today I went to Sapporo to hang out with my friend, and then get afternoon tea with her and her friend! It was loads of fun, and I’m really glad I made a new friend today! For the usual boba on the bus ride home, we’re getting Gong Cha, because there’s a new seasonal…

So the previous seasonal was the grape one, and the usual peach seasonal of the year released on July 4th. However, in between then, apparently they released this baby seasonal citrus passion fruit one on June 27th. The drink uses Alishan Oolong tea from Taiwan, passion fruit sauce from Taiwan, and juicy, sweet and sour grapefruit jelly (again with the grapefruit jelly? Feel like I’ve had this recently). If you couldn’t tell, I’m usually a milk tea girlie, but this isn’t a milk tea! I planned on getting a milk tea, but right after we finished afternoon tea was when I got on the bus, and I was still feeling pretty full. A milky drink seemed heavy, and I feel like the milk drinks all use the same creamer and such similar flavor, so I went with the -ade version for once!

The drink is refreshing! Very fruity, and not too sweet, with the less sugar and sour passion fruit and grapefruit flavor. The passion fruit seeds kind of get in the way, but that’s a normal passion fruit thing. There’s a bit of occasional t at tends that balances out the sweetness. Boba is pretty normal and chewy. For some reason this drink isn’t ice adjustable, but whatever.
