Tapioca Royal Milk Tea (タピオカロイヤルミルクティ) – Pronto

I’m heading back to Hokkaido from Sendai today, and we arrived at the airport quite early in case there was a crowd. Actually when we landed, we passed by the Pronto and saw an advertisement for boba, which I’ve never seen at a Pronto before (it’s not even listed on their website, so it could potentially be an airport exclusive?). We were pretty early and did t have too much to do, so I went to go get my daily dose of boba from the Pronto, a pretty widespread cafe chain. Boba for breakfast? I’m all for it.

There were two options for boba, a strawberry milk or a Royal milk tea. I’m typically a milk tea preference gal, and I did not get much sleep last night for various reasons, so I also figured a morning caffeine and sugar pick-me-up would be a good excuse. Oh, and this isn’t the first thing I’m consuming today. Before this, I had lots of water, various drinks, and a bit of a whipped cream strawberry mochi taiyaki.

It’s a pretty herbal-y tea drink, and while pretty sweet, does have a strong milk tea flavor. Nothing too much to complain about the drink considering it’s from a standard cafe. Boba was pretty chewy, like hard-ish chewy, but again, pretty good for a not boba shop.
