My boyfriend went on a short trip to Tokyo this weekend to see his friend, and came back today! He was getting boba from The Alley and and of course I took him up on his offer to get one too.
Last up on the milk tea list I have to try here is their Assam. They do have a current seasonal, but that’s a salt cream foam over their peach oolong tea or milk tea. I figured it probably wouldn’t be the best after sitting for a couple hours, and plus, I’m not a desperate salt cream fan either.
The drink is actually pretty good! It tastes just like a classic milk tea, with that herbal-y black tea flavor Assam has. Texturally a bit more on the watery side, but I’d argue this is the best, or at least the most accurate, milk tea they have. Boba was fine, soft on the outside but hard on the inside, but that’s just a natural byproduct of sitting for a couple hours.
Details: THE ALLEY Assam Milk Tea; boba; large; less sugar; no ice; from The Alley (Sapporo Daimaru)
