Today my family went out on a really exhausting day trip outing that took way longer than I thought, and we ended up back at Jiu Fen, the unofficial Studio Ghibli town I went last year. It was near 8, and would basically be 9 by the time we got back to Taipei City proper, so a drink elsewhere didn’t seem promising. We settled on the Xing Fu Tang right at the entrance of the old street.
They only had two items left at this point in the day, this, and a jelly milk drink. Unfortunate there weren’t more choices, but perhaps just a non caffeinated drink would help me rest easy for the night.
The drink is just their signature brown sugar boba with milk and topped with some milk foam and a brûléed sugar top. Essentially, sweet milk. The boba was pretty good, very brown sugary sweet and had a chewy texture like a gummy, and occasionally there’d be a bit of toasted sugar crunch. Although the drink was basically sweet milk, something about the milk used didn’t really hit the spot. It just tasted like, well, normal, average milk. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by the Hokkaido milk.

Exhausting but fun! 🙂
