I’ve actually heard about ChiChaSanChen for a while, having a Michelin-equivalent of boba. I think this location opened more relatively recently though, but still not super close to where I live. To be honest, this wasn’t on my boba bucket list before going back to Japan in a few days, but now my mom is hooked on the idea of going, so on her behalf my dad took me to go try it out!
All of their teas are accredited with the International Taste Institute award, so you know they’re all supposed to be high quality, but I wasn’t sure which one to get. I was leaning towards the osmanthus one, but ultimately decided on their green tea, mostly because it was the only 3star among the other 2 stars, ha! Of course, I added fresh milk to make it a milk tea (there was an option for fresh cream though). All the other tea names we’re translated from Chinese, but only the green tea was just, well, green tea in English.
I first just took a sip of the tea without boba, and it does taste like really good green tea. It’s super fragrant, even with the added milk, but feels a bit watery at times (might be the ice because can’t do no ice, or might be the milk). Generally, the flavor is amazing though. The boba is very chewy, a bit on the stuff side, but also very sweet on its own.
