Thai Tea with Boba Ice Cream – Wanderlust Creamery

I didn’t have a drink today, but I did go do some shopping with my dad, and one of our stops was Trader Joe’s. It’s next to the Omomo, but today the line (as usual) was pretty long, and instead, I wanted to check out the new Wanderlust Creamery that opened up somewhat recently. It’s a brand of specialty ice cream from Los Angeles that made its way down!

I was only browsing the flavors on their site, but when I went in, I was pleasantly surprised they had a thai tea with boba flavor, so I knew I was going to get that. Along with it, I got their Japanese Neapolitan in a split scoop. The ice cream itself is supposed to be condensed milk ice cream, assam black tea, vanilla bean, cardamom, ceylon cinnamon, and chewy boba pearls.

It was very yummy! There was a strong thai tea flavor, with the usual spices, and it had an interesting kind of sweet flavor to it (maybe it was the condensed milk?). The “boba” was chewy, which I thought might have been mochi at first because of how bad tapioca freezes, but my mom theorized maybe they just mix it in fresh in their ice cream batch.

Less boba adjacent, is the Japanese Neapolitan, with matcha, sakura, and Hokkaido milk (go figure). The matcha was by far the strongest among the three, though at some points I did get some floral notes from the sakura.
