Oh hey here’s a new boba adjacent product: protein powder. It’s technically not even a boba product because there isn’t boba in or advertised on the product, which is actually is probably for the better. Imagine if there were dried boba chunks in there…ew. I’m glad they didn’t try to advertise it with any signs of boba, and instead just as brown sugar milk tea. Close enough to be boba related, since it’s the classic, basic boba flavor right?
Anyway, the reason I actually have this is because I was searching for a protein powder that’s a better deal than the one I was using originally, since I eat it every day as part of my breakfast. I liked it since it’s the brand that I’ve been using since I was in America, but since it’s an American brand, it’s a bit expensive here, and the price was slowly increasing on Amazon, so I needed to do sonething about it. After some sleuthing, I found MyProtien, also recommended by a friend, and they have a ton of flavors for their protein. As a boba lover, the brown sugar milk tea caught my eye, and I kind of just went for it and bought the 5kg one, since it would be more worth it…I just finished my chocolate from the brand, and now it’s time to get started into this one…I better like it because I’ll be consuming this for a while…
So how exactly do I taste it? I can’t just eat it straight because that’s crazy. I’m not exactly the type to just mix with water and chug, so I’m just diving in and going with how I normally eat my protein powder: with my oats. I eat both hot oatmeal and cold overnight oats on a daily basis, so it’s probably a good point of comparison.
I was actualy quite pleasantly surprised with the flavor! I don’t think anyone expects protein powder to taste that good or accurate, especially with the many new and innovative flavors that are always coming out. However, I’d say this is decently accurate. It has this really nice roasty brown sugar flavor, and tastes pretty good. I can’t say much about a “milk tea”, but I’m happy with it, especially after being not that impressed with their natural chocolate. I’m glad that I actually like this flavor!
By the way, apparently there’s an alternate packaging for this flavor. This one has “brown sugar” written in Chinese characters, with swirls of brown sugar or milk teas swirls and boba on the bottom. Now this one has boba imagery, despite the name having no obvious connection with boba.
