Nougat Biscuit – Hsin Tung Yang

Here’s the last of the boba snacks I bought from Taiwan! Yes, it was a while ago, but this one doesn’t have as soon as an expiration date, so I kind of put off trying it. Anyway, I kept seeing other nougat biscuits around, so I guess it’s a thing, but I got this one because it was boba flavored, clearly…

What surprised me most about this was that it was an overall salty snack. It was almost like the salty and the sweet were clashing, and not in a complimentary way. The cracker on the outside reminded me of like a baked saltine cracker I used to have, which would be nice, except it wasn’t as crunchy as a normal cracker. The positive was that there was actual “boba” in the inside filling, meaning the package at least didn’t lie, ha! The boba was kind of like a chewy gummy in the middle of this goo in the middle. I didn’t really get a milk tea flavor from it, and it felt more like a vessel for the “boba” if anything.
