Today I’m in the Harajuku area for a long overdue haircut. It’s peak heat in Japan right now, and my long hair isn’t very convenient at this time of year, so I opted to chop it all off. What’s also very good for heat is a drink! I was looking forward to being in Harajuku again so I could go back to Xing Fu Tang, ha!
I already decided beforehand I wanted to get the matcha beforehand since I got the milk tea last time, but as I was looking at the menu to confirm my choice from the offerings, I noticed that the milk tea was gone from the menu entirely! It’s a little odd to me because you can’t have a boba place without the default milk tea. I mean, it doesn’t matter to me, because they had the matcha (they sold out the last time I think?), but it was still very weird. I know I had a matcha yesterday, but that’s totally fine.
Anyway, the drink was very good! You can’t adjust the sugar and ice here, but I didn’t think it was too sweet, just the perfect amount to sweeten and taste like a good matcha latte. The boba was pink for some reason, not using their famous brown sugar boba, but I think that was ok. You’d expect it to taste like strawberry, but I didn’t get any flavor other than a slight sweetness. It was nicely chewy but soft, a very good texture!
