Happy Lemon is a pretty big franchise, again originating from Taiwan, and well, they’re known for their lemon drinks, along with cheese foam and various toppings. My friend liked their lemon and cheese foam stuff, but personally, I’m not a huge lemon flavor person in general (or cheese foam for the matter, but sometimes I’ll be in the mood). Of course, they have the standard menu of milk teas and do them pretty well, and I’d say their teas are better than say, a Lollicup tier place, and more on the average end of boba, being not too fancy, good if you’re in need of a classic boba fix, but not on the top tier level of boba competition you see nowadays. Anyway, not super stand-out-y about it, but a good go-to or stop if you’re nearby one.
I’ve never actually gotten an egg waffle from them, but I think that’s another thing they’re known for, and with a few flavors they see to be popular. Eventually I will try one.
Oh and hey, I spotted a Happy Lemon in Shibuya on my Tokyo trip doing a limited matcha and sakura run during the spring season. That’s something you won’t see in America.
Chain? Yes. I’ve been to the one in San Diego on Convoy, and San Francisco. Weirdly enough I never went to the one in Irvine that is in the Sunmerry (though I’ve been in the Sunmerry, just never got a drink from there).
Drinks Tried: Green Milk Tea, Wintermelon with Fresh Milk, Boba Milk Tea,
Boba: Not bad, pretty standard. Chewy, decent texture, and a little sweet.
Price: Pretty good considering the prices of boba keeps rising nowadays to pretty steep prices. They’re relatively worth I think for the quality you get, given Happy Lemon is a bit cheaper than other boba places.
Size: Normally two sizes for cold drinks, a regular and a large.
Interior: Obviously the space itself depends on the real estate of the shop, but I feel most are pretty minimalistic, with plain pastel colors and the occasional lemon and logo decoration. Not too overally colorful but not plain, and good vibes.
Wait: If you go at a decent time there’s not usually a wait, but I’ve waited in a long Happy Lemon line at like 10pm before.
Sell Food? Yes. Most sell egg waffles, and some are attached to bakeries (which obviously sell food).
Reward System? Not sure, but maybe.
