Pearl Milk Tea Egg Roll – BlueBird Travel

The next boba snack that I got in Taiwan was this egg roll snack. It was right next to the booth where I got the pastry at 101. This brand has a ton of other cool Asian flavors, which came in same set boxes or mix boxes, like matcha, sesame, peanut, etc. the boba one only came in this set though. Apparently the last time my dad went to Taiwan, he tried to find these but couldn’t find them, but when I went, there was a ton and definitely didn’t seem like any shortage. I was interested in the other flavors, but figured a box of the boba flavor would be enough. After last time, I really only expected it to be flavored like milk tea. Plus, how do you get boba in an egg roll?

When I first opened it, there was just a bit of a vague herbal tea smell to it. The outside has a flaky texture that is normal for egg roll snacks like this. The inside looked like some sort of cream filling…surprisingly, it as thick, and more like a hard chocolate texture. And even more so, there were actual “boba” chunks! They were like small, somewhat hard chewy bits, kind of like a mix between a gummy candy and a stale boba. That was kind of a pleasant surprise, but I’m not sure if hard boba is still good boba. Overall, a decent snack, and glad I tried it.
