A bought a few boba flavored snacks in Taiwan, and one of them is this boba flavored cake pastry. I’m assuming it’s like the classic pineapple cake, except with milk tea flavored filling, and I’m hoping there might be boba in it (if the packaging is accurate). Perhaps it’ll be like a cream inside? I saw this at one shop, and it looked intriguing but I didn’t buy it at first, and then when I went to Taipei 101, the same company had a booth, and I saw a 101 edition with 6 in them. The standard box was a pack of 5
The pastry and cake overall is pretty pineapple cake reminiscent, texture wise. The outside or super crumbly, and buttery tasting. The inside is a slightly sticky, pasty filling that is actually quite like a normal pineapple cake, just not pineapple tasting. I suppose it is a little milk tea tasting, though very light and more of an aftertaste. I did notice inside there were small, slightly harder chunks that did tasted a little like boba, which is supposed to be the boba part I guess. It’s, ok, and I’ll eat it the rest I have, but I don’t think I would get them again. The packaging really sold it for me…
