As I’m writing this, I’m midday snacking on popcorn chicken I bought across the street from my grandma’s place. I had a big brunch/meal this morning and wasn’t feeling hungry for a bit, but after chilling a bit I was feeling sleepy and wanted to do something on my last full day in Taiwan (sad…). I was looking for some drink places to try (there’s definitely no shortage anywhere in Taiwan), and I decided to finally try Kebuke. I’ve been seeing this chain everywhere I go in Taiwan, and I gave in today.
So I guess this place specializes in black tea, and most of their stuff is variants of black tea, and I couldn’t read most of the menu. I did look online and their English site did have an entry listed “Bubble Milk Tea”, which I think its just their fresh milk black tea with their white boba. I had no idea what item was their boba, so I just asked if they had pearl milk tea and it ended up being this one, which literally translated is “white jade”, their boba, and “au Lait”, which is with milk.
The drink tasted like a really good quality black milk tea. It’s a little on the herbal-y side of black tea, but it’s a nice slightly creamy texture, and tea forward without being bitter. A perfect afternoon pick-me-up! Their boba is nicely chewy, and their boba is clear without being tasteless. Wild. Even in the land of boba, there’s so much boba variety.
