Happy (American?) National Boba Day! Today’s my first full day in Taiwan! I went to get some traditional Taiwanese breakfast in the morning, and then on the way to dim sum for lunch, we took the Taiwan railway system so I could get a card and get a feel for the system (which is pretty similar to the other ones in Asia). Along the way, we passed by A Nice Holiday, stepped in for a peek, and oh my gosh did the store smell amazing with a tea aroma. My grandma said she would take me later in the day, and we did end up stopping by to get a drink on the way home from lunch. When we went to actually buy boba, they were super busy, taking orders in person and packing huge orders for delivery services. Actually, last night she was telling me about some boba places around the area, and showed me a paper menu she picked up.
Their menu and tea selection is quite interesting, with some teas I’ve never even seen on menus before, with some combinations I’ve never seen before. They also had a dedicated winter melon section, but since I’m going during the middle of the day, I decided it would be a good chance to get a black tea, which come to think of it, I haven’t had a proper black milk tea in a while. Plus, their red tea is supposedly their signature, so have to test out how good that is. They had a milk tea section, and a latte section, and today I ventured into the latte for some fresh milk. Their “boba” here is also pretty interesting; here, it’s not even “pearl”. It’s labeled “amber pearl” in English on the menu but the word itself is different.
The drink is amazing. The tea flavor itself is aromatic, strong, and not bitter, and the sweetness is just right. The texture is also perfect, not watery and not super creamy either. The boba is bouncy, chewy, and with just a bit of sweetness. A pretty good first impression of the place!
Details: Signature Red Tea Latte; half sugar; small ice (I ordered what’s supposed to be no ice, but I guess on their menu that term is for small ice chunks, and absolutely no ice is a different term, which was fine); boba (technically amber pearl); A Nice Holiday
