Back in Sapporo to pick up my boyfriend from his long Tokyo/Kyoto trip! We spent the night yesterday, and we’re getting boba for the way home obviously. The Alley has some current spring seasonals, so I wanted to see if there were any that looked promising. I was kind of thinking of going there anyway, for their Jasmine, but I guess that will have to wait for another time.
There’s a few out right now, but I’m more interested in their fruit smoothies than the honey lemon series. There’s a kiwi slush, which I actually saw being advertised when I first came to Japan, and a tropical slush. I think I’ll eventually get the other one, but today I went with the kiwi slush because that’s more unique, and it comes with boba! Although the weather here is actually still pretty cold and it’s even raining today, I’m feeling pretty hot with a sweater and jacket on, plus we’ve been walking indoors lugging around a few bags this morning.
The drink is really good! It is definitely kiwi forward, not too sweet, and a bit of tartness. I’m usually not a huge fan of tart drinks or sour fruits, but this one works pretty well as it tastes like you’re drinking real kiwi flavors. It’s fruity and refreshing, and I’d be open to getting it again. Boba is good, doesn’t get hard after contact with the cold drink, is chewy, and in contrast to the drink, a little sweet. Also, the lady today gave a ton of boba which was nice.
