Ah, Dayung’s. It was really more of a recent local find during my last year of college, but honestly it was a bit of a hidden gem (personally, anyway). The menu was pretty varied and large, the drinks were good quality, and the boba was quality too. It became one of my roomies’ go-to spots, and surprisingly made its way up to the top 3 of my final San Diego boba rankings.
They really had everything, and claimed to be another authentic Taiwanese drink brand too. From fruit teas, milk teas, lattes, smoothies, and most toppings you could ever want, they had everything, without seeming too generic. Their teas were the real deal, and really couldn’t go wrong with anything on their menu. The texture was just right, sometimes could be on the slightly watery-ish side, but from my memory it was just slightly creamy (you can read my past posts for slightly more accurate descriptions though).
They also had weekly/monthly specials and happy hours, and if you got the right drink or timed it right, the discount deals were pretty good too. I really wish more locations would open up in America, and there were even 2 locations in San Diego!
Chain? Yes. I’ve only been to the Convoy location.
Drinks Tried: GuanYin Latte, Green Tea Latte, Matcha Latte, Roasted Oolong Milk Tea, Black Tea Latte,
Boba: Very good, perfect chewy texture, and just a bit of sweetness too.
Price: For most of the standard drinks and for the most part, the prices are pretty standard for current boba drinks in America. I think when you start to order more specialty items and plus add toppings, it can add up a little. I remember my friend was obsessed with their papaya smoothie, but it did end up on the pricier end for her.
Size: Just one size, a tall slender cup, and pretty nice quality too.
Interior: Small shop, just enough to fit in a few parties and for people to order, but probably not meant for chilling inside.
Wait: Most times when I went, there was really no line. Ordering and getting drinks came out pretty fast too.
Sell Food? Don’t think so.
Reward System? Yes.
