Today’s our last day in Sapporo for the weekend, and of course I have to grab boba before I go home. My boyfriend, friend and I got together for lunch at a soup curry place, and then after hanging out a bit, we grabbed boba to go before I go home. Yes, I’m back at Gong Cha, but that’s because their new seasonal just came out!
Anyway this new seasonal is chocolate themed, which I assume is because Valentine’s Day is coming up. The Japanese name is actually Rich chocolate milk tea, but for whatever reason the English label is Cookie & Cream, even though the cookie part is just a topping. The regular menu also has a chocolate milk tea, and I wonder if it’s just the add ons that make a difference. Anyway, the drink uses an Earl Gray chocolate tea base, comes with chocolate pudding and milk foam, but I also added boba, duh.
I always thought the regular chocolate milk tea would just be a chocolate milk, but this one is very rich (just like its name!) and isn’t too sweet. It’s not dark chocolate bitter, but it has more of a semi sweet chocolate taste and vibe to it. Very smooth, slightly creamy, and the chocolate pudding adds a nice not so sweet chocolate flavor and thick texture as well. Boba is ok, good texture, but compared to the rest of the drink not much flavor.
