Jasmine Milk Tea (ジャスミングリーン ミルクティー) – Gong Cha

I’m back in Sapporo this weekend, mostly to do some more exploring around the Susukino station area and eat good food. Specifically, I had some food spots I wanted to hit up, made an itinerary, and was very excited to eat good food this weekend. You can read about my day here, on my other blog. Also, incidentally another three day weekend for me! No holiday tomorrow, but my Monday school is off tomorrow 🙂 I’m back at Gong Cha because I want to use the free topping coupon. It’s valid for a month, so I figure I should use it now. Unfortunately, timing wise, I’m pretty sure Gong Cha is coming up with a new limited Mango drink tomorrow, so barely missed that…perhaps on my next Sapporo run? Ugh, I do want to get to try the other drink places, but you never know with limited drinks when they’re over…I’ll still have plenty of time to try out the other shops though in my time here, right?

Aha! Gong Cha finally has their jasmine green milk tea back in stock, and I was very stoked to see it, and immediately did not think about anything else but the jasmine. There is a current new drink called a banana chai, but I’m not a fan of either of the flavors separately anyway, so no use considering that. I also chose to get a large today, because I figured I should enjoy a drink while I’m here, and a large jasmine is not a bad deal.

Weirdly enough, the tea flavor is super subtle. The first thing I taste is something similar to the other milk teas I’ve had, which might actually just be the creamer taste? The green tea flavor is not hidden, but not super strong either. It mostly tastes like milk, with a hint of green tea flavor. At this point, I wouldn’t say I’m disappointed, but maybe I really should start experimenting with other places or real milk lattes at The Alley or something. It’s not bad, but very misleading for calling it a jasmine in both English and Japanese. Weirdly enough, the printed label just says green milk…Anyway, last but not least, the boba is pretty decent today, chewy, and not unflavorful.
