This morning my sister and her friend had a meetup in Long Beach and my dad chaperoned them. Conveniently, the original Loose Leaf store was around the corner from where the meet-up was, and my mom asked my dad to bring home a drink. It wasn’t too far of a trip, and my dad brought home drinks for all of us.
Today I actually decided to go for the Strawberry Matcha Latte because for one thing, I don’t think I’ve actually had a proper Strawberry Matcha, and because since I couldn’t decide the other day, it’d be good chance to get it today (while I’m still in an area with lots of boba)!
When the drink came home, most of the layers were still intact, so I needed to mix/stir it up to incorporate everything. Stirring didn’t quite work that well, because most of my initial sips consisted of mostly the strawberry puree. That tasted basically like a really good strawberry jam. I actually found it pretty hard to mix the matcha and strawberry together, and on sips in which I got both, it kind of tasted like a slightly bitter aftertaste. Honestly, not that pleasant at times, and both components would probably be better off separate. I don’t know if it’s my one experience with this drink, or this is how it is with all Strawberry Matchas, but I would not go for this combination for a while…It was a good experience to have though, and I don’t entirely regret it.
Boba today is ok. The flavor is great, but it’s somewhat tough to chew. Not hard, but tough. It might have been the ride home though.
