Tie Guan Yin Oolong – Boba Guys

This morning my mom took me to get a facial, and since I needed to go get some things from South Coast Plaza, we stopped there before heading home. Since South Coast is in Costa Mesa, I figured it’d be a good chance to go to Boba Guys right down the street. My mom agreed, and here’s my boba for today.

Their menu is actually pretty big. I spent a bit of time browsing the menu because they do have quite a few interesting options. At first I was really intrigued by the seasonal Pink Pitaya (dragonfruit, orange, milk) because it looked pretty (I like pink, ha!) and also because I like dragonfruit. Part of the reason I didn’t get it is because it’s kind of expensive for a dragon milk (yes, dragonfruit gets expensive) and since I was there, I wanted to actually get some kind of tea. So among the teas (I had already tried the Jasmine) the Tie Guan Yin is on the unique side, lighter, and plus, I generally like it anyway, so I opted for that.

The drink is really good! The Tie Guan Yin flavor in this is actually quite unique, tasting like past ones at first, but then really getting an aromatic tea aftertaste. The depth of the flavor is really nice, and I’m very pleasantly surprised at how my drink turns out. It pairs well with the slight flavor and texture of the milk too. Boba is pretty good, has a good chew to it, and is also sweet and has a flavor on its own.

Details: Tie Guan Yin Oolong; large; 50% sugar; No ice; with boba; from Boba Guys (Costa Mesa)
