Today’s another LA doctor visit day, so a standard vacation routine…I’ve been meaning to visit Junbi for a while, so I’m glad I was in the area this time and got the chance to try it out. Actually, for lunch, my dad and I got their Rice Balls, and they were pretty good. We waited to get drinks until after my afternoon appointment though, so drinks would be for on the way back home.
I was considering getting a flavored matcha drink, but ultimately, for a place that specializes in matcha, I figured I should try it by itself first to see how it is on its own. Of course, I have to get the milky option because I like my drinks as milk teas, but otherwise, a basic matcha latte for me today.
The drink is really refreshing, and matcha forward (obviously). Actually, the matcha is not a super deep or dark, and is on the lighter side of the matcha spectrum, I guess. Definitely great that it doesn’t have a bitter aftertaste, and also it’s very smooth, not powdery at all. This matcha taste also reminds me of the presweetened matcha packets you can buy at an Asian grocery store. My drink tastes like a slightly less sweeter version of that, and very slightly creamy. Boba is pretty good, very chewy and just a bit sweet on its own.
Details: Matcha; less sweet; no ice; fresh dairy; with boba; Junbi (Westwood)

A very well deserved drink after a very long day… 🙂
