Today’s my first full day back in town, and at my dad’s suggestion too, I had to arrange a catch up date with my wife 🙂 We’re going to get lunch together tomorrow, so she just suggested a casual Trader Joe’s run to finish off her work week, and get One Zo since it’s in the area.
I love boba, but I did have a drink yesterday, so trying to at least somewhat consciously get a lighter drink. Plus, I ate some dinner before going to my hangout, so a light drink is also probably preferable in this situation. At first, I was thinking about going for one of their fruit teas, but then the wintermelon and chrysanthemum combo in the tea section caught my eye. They’re both non-caffeinated, so it makes for a good evening drink, and also I was curious as to how the combination would turn out since I like them both separately. Of course, I had to get boba in my drink, and I figured I’d try out a new flavored boba, so I went with mango.
However, I get too ahead of myself, because I was looking at an outdated menu online. When I went in and tried to order on the tablet, it seemed like their wintermelon was out of stock, plus I didn’t see any chrysanthemum drinks being offered either. I was going to try to ask the cashier, but when I looked at their updated menu on the screens, I didn’t see the Wintermelon Chrysanthemum Tea, so they probably don’t offer it anymore…I settled on a basic Honey Green Tea since they sounded good at the moment instead.
The drink was fine I guess. Pretty basic green tea, though with a slightly bitter aftertaste. I know I ordered less sugar, but I couldn’t taste much honey flavor at all, and it really tasted of just a slightly ish sweet green tea. The boba was ok, but the quality was inconsistent. Some were really chewy, but some were actually hard on the inside, which was a bummer. As for the flavor, it was very slight, but after chewing it for a bit I could taste the slight mango-ness, and it was like eating a mango jelly.
Details: Honey Green Tea; less sugar; medium; with mango boba; no ice; from One Zo (Irvine)
