Matcha Latte – Dayung’s Tea

Today was my first day eating out with my friends since coming back to school. We were debating about where to go, since none of us had strong preferences, and one suggested our go-to Korean place to celebrate a good midterm score. Since we’ve been meaning to try out some other Korean places in the area, for variety, I suggested we try out another one for a change. Unfortunately, that one ended up closed so we ended up going to our favorite place anyway…Dayung’s just happened to be close by to today’s restaurant, and I think Dayung’s is great. So here we are.

I was mainly looking at the latte section of the menu, but I should look into actually getting stuff from the milk tea section…anyway, I’m trying to get something new, and I’m still not into their wintermelon being sugar non-adjustable, so I decided on getting the matcha latte. It’s not like I was craving matcha or anything, but since it was in that section and wasn’t one of the brown sugar options…anyway, I couldn’t adjust the ice since apparently they already use as least ice as possible for the drink, and I didn’t feel like changing my order at the last minute, so a matcha latte it is. Next time I will get the roasted oolong, probably…

The matcha latte is pretty solid. Instead of drinking the layers separately, I just shook it up and mixed it to drink as a matcha latte. The matcha itself is pretty good, at first a very slight powder texture but overall very matcha-y without being bitter at all. It works very well as a drink in the whole, and the consistency is just right. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m not used to getting ice, but it does taste slightly watered down as a whole. Boba is great, chewy and has a little flavor.
