Today I met up with a couple of my high school friends for lunch! Since another one works at Chick-fil-A, he unfortunately couldn’t join us for lunch, and we were planning to stop by to say hi to him anyway, we chose to get our lunch there. After chatting for a bit, I suggested we get boba, since One Zo is in the same plaza. (My friends both ended up getting the fruit tea, but didn’t like it very much and threw it out…I need to take them to a better boba place then)
I’m not sure when, but One Zo now has a Thai Tea on their menu. I was tempted to get that since I was going to get it for my mom anyway, but since I had a plain tea at Chick-fil-A, I figured maybe I should go for a lower caffeine level drink instead. I’ve been meaning to try out One Zo’s Roasted Rice Milk Tea, and since it’s non-caffeinated, I thought it’d be a good time to try it out. Instead of their suggested strawberry boba, I just opted for their honey boba.
The drink is pretty interesting. It reminds me of what I think Genmaicha (a Japanese roasted rice tea) tastes like, so I guess no surprise. I can taste the roastiness, along with a flavor that is unique to roasted rice tea. Not too watery but not too creamy, it’s a decent balance. The boba goes pretty well actually. Since it’s not too flavorful itself, it goes with the pretty strong flavor of the actual drink. It’s a mushy-kind of chewy, not super mushy, but kinda on the mushy side.
Details: Roasted Rice Milk Tea; less sugar; medium; with honey boba; no ice; from One Zo (Irvine)
