I’ve been meaning to try Dayung’s for a while, so last night I suggested it to my friend when we were thinking about where we were going to go out tonight last night. She saw me looking at Dayung’s menu since it’s in the area of the restaurant we were going to (which is actually the same one as the one we went to on Tuesday, because my other friend had a craving to go back, ha!). Anyway, my friend saw that the menu looked pretty nice, and so we decided to try it out today.
Even though I think Dayung’s is known for their fruit teas, I’m really more of a milk tea person, and their milk tea portion of the menu is actually pretty extensive. They have most of the standard drinks, which I’ll probably get to later, but what caught my eye were the Wintermelon drinks and the GuanYin Tea drinks. Unfortunately, it looks like all the Wintermelon drinks on the menu have a fixed sugar level, and since GuanYin seems to be a rarer flavor, I thought I’d go with that tonight and try the latte. Oh, and I already made up my mind about my drink choice, but apparently this week the GuanYin Latte is having a discount promotion for 10% off. Heck yeah!
Upon first sip, I liked the drink a lot, and it was a very good first impression of Dayung’s. That said, I expected it to taste like the previous Tie Guan Yins I had, and either it isn’t the same tea, or something else is up because those two tasted similar, but not this one. Today’s drink tasted like a cross between a regular black tea and the Tie Guan Yin, like a regular milk tea, but slightly more aromatic and herbal-y. I like the drink a lot, but not exactly what I expected. The tea flavor is also on the more subtle side, but I like that they use real milk here. The cashier even asked me if I wanted lactose-free milk!
Boba is pretty good, really chewy, and it comparatively looks like a lot too!
